Dear Teachers,
Instead of bringing you my newsletter I bring you a heartfelt and moving message. This message that I encourage you to read is entitled A Parting Prescription for America. It is written by Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy who is Vice Admiral in the US Navy and the outgoing Surgeon General of the United States.
Please read the message of Dr. Murthy in which he addresses the loneliness and depression that so many experience. I encourage you to share this message with others as an inspiration and a call to support each other. To read his message click on the photo or visit https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/my-parting-prescription-for-america.pdf
As an antidote to loneliness, Dr. Murthy proposes the triad of fulfillment with the elements of relationship, service, and purpose, as shown in the diagram. Here is a key question to consider:
How can you bring relationship, service, and purpose to your classes?
You may, of course, do this already. You can build relationship with other teachers by discussing this message with colleagues. As you can see in the diagram, that may take courage. But this is what we are called to do, especially on Martin Luther King day.
Peace, Roel
